Team Description

Elbflorace is a group of students enrolled at university of technologie Dresden. We came together under this name for the first time in July of 2006! Our team is coined after Elbflorence, our hometown’s namesake, which titles Dresden Florence on the river Elbe.

We are in our infancy, but growing! Right now Elbflorace’s students major in Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Technical Design, and Business/Economics. We are actively recruiting students from other areas to broaden our spectrum as we move forward into the conceptual and constructive phase of our venture. We are looking forward to escapades of interdisciplinary, hands-on learning and of course to showing its results in the Formula Student competition in 2010!

Info
It’s the third racing season for Elbflorace, the Formula Student Team of Dresden University of Technology. Our team is named after our hometown's namesake “Elbflorence”, which assigns Dresden as one of the most beautiful cities along the river Elbe. The dream of constructing and manufacturing a racing car started in 2006 by just 18 people. Now the team consists of more than 50 students. After successfully participating in several formula student events in 2008 and 2009 we proudly present the 2010 car: “Ardor”. The style is defined by the one-piece monocoque. Furthermore it is without any varnish and the surface is only polished. Many other components, such as the airbox, the wishbones and the steering wheel, are made of extra light carbon fiber reinforced plastic as well. One more highlight is our progressive steering system. Manufacturing “Ardor” was only possible with a dedicated team and the help of our sponsors and supporters. Be anxious to take a look at car No. 44!

Info
A new star is rising on the firmament of Formula Student Competition. The Elbflorace Team from Dresden University of Technology currently consisting of 25 team members is making it´s maiden trip in Hockenheim 2008. Our objective for the event? Nothing less than becoming one of the top three newcomers. This project is the challenging possibility to connect academic knowledge gained in university life and crafty practical work. Therefore the ultimate benefit of the competition is to acquire first-hand experience with the overall construction of a race car, using well established technical fundamentals and some associated dynamic innovations. A lot of blood, sweat and tears of a hard working team as well as our sponsors and supporters who we send our best thanks made it possible that we can proudly present the “ARCUS”. You became curious? Take a look on car No.44!
