Team Description

After our last mixed season with our crash at Formula Student Germany, we hope to build a new integration car with our KIT24. With this we want to finally bring our speed in both EV and DV to the track! Stay tuned!

Founded in 2006 by KIT students, KA-RaceIng has been building electric racecars since 2010 and unveiled its third electric car with an integrated autonomous system this year. The KIT25 features a fully self-developed powertrain and a complex aerodynamic package to maximize traction. Its autonomous system uses a LiDAR sensor to push the car close to its physical limits. This season, KA-RaceIng is also developing its first hydrogen-powered racecar.

KA-RaceIng the Team from the KIT Karlsruhe is back with the newly developed KIT24. The first time since 2019 that a car has been developed and built in one year. It has a completly new Chassis, HV-Battery and improved AS Integration. With a stronger Aero package and over 20Kg weight reduction it aims to be back at the Top of the Leaderboard and aims to present KA-RaceIng at FSG in an appropriate manner.

After one year of autonomous vacation, KA-RaceIng e.V. is now back with their first EV-DV car. Building up on the newly developed platform of the KIT21e as a more aero focused platform, we did incremental changes, saved further weight and integrated the successful Autonomous System of the KIT21/22d to form the KIT23.

"One Team - Three Cars!" KA-RaceIng is designing manufacturing and competing with a FSC, FSE and FSD car every year. After a season full of problems with our KIT18e, we focused on trouble shooting and weight reduction. The biggest change was a newly designed rotor with a sintered cooling system and cooling housing, our carbon fibers and the gender of our CTO. To solve our problems with the self-developed power electronics, we decided to do something completely crazy: we listened to our alumni.

KA-RaceIng – two cars, one passion! As a team of 70 Students from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), we are building one car every year since 2007 with combustion engine and additional one with electrical drivetrain since 2010. The team is organized by a board called “Assembly”, combining our team leaders and the executive board. The team itself is managed in different departments, led by a team leader. This season the team’s focus is on the KIT13e. According to this, this car will have four synchronous motors, one for each wheel, mounted in the center of our new designed full-monocoque, with steered driveshafts at the front axle and fully adjustable active aerodynamics. As we are building two cars, we develop several parts which meet the requirements of both cars and improve testing time and manufacturing effort. We would like to thank all supporters and are looking to an exciting event in Hockenheim.

Being a team of about 60 students, KA-RaceIng builds two cars every year: one with an electric drivetrain and one with a combustion engine. Starting in autumn with conception and design, we set a tight production schedule to present our new cars in April. The KIT12e is our 3rd electric car and combines the best of new ideas and tested concepts. As we are building two cars, we develop several parts which meet the requirements of both cars and improve testing time and manufacturing effort. The KIT12e is a significant improvement which is based on the knowledge earned from overall 9 vehicles developed over the last years. We refined many of the established concepts of the KIT11e and thus achieved a well designed vehicle which should support us in accomplishing our aim to score as many points as possible and reach a top ranking overall. We would like to thank all supporters and are looking forward to an exciting event in Hockenheim.

Being a team of about 50 students, KA-RaceIng builds two cars every year: one for the formula student and one for the formula student electric. Starting in autumn with conception and design, we set a very tight production schedule to present our new cars in April. Since then we have tested a lot to get ready to race and train our drivers. The KIT11e is our second electric car and we improved a lot since the forerunner of 2010. With our hybrid chassis consisting of a CRFP monocoque front end and a tubular space frame rear end, we were able to place all components in the center of the car. Two 42 kW motors with 400 V drive the rear axle. The KIT11e has very good power to weight ratio and with its torque vectoring it can show all the performance an electrical car can have. KA-RaceIng is the Formula Student Team of the KIT – Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the former University of Karlsruhe (TH). The Team consists of 53 students from different fields of study, mainly mechanical, electrical and industrial engineering. Organised into mechanical or organisational sub teams, every team member has a task for which he is fully responsible.The KIT10e is the fifth car made by KA-RaceIng and the first one incorporating an electric power train. It is based on the chassis of the KIT10. Using one common platform for more than one power train increases the efficiency during designing, testing and set up.The power train of the car consists of a longitudinal mounted Zytek motor with integrated inverter and a self made gearbox. Lithium ion cells are mounted in the side pods. KA-RaceIng would like to thank all its supporters which made it possible to build this race car. The Team is looking forward to another exciting and successful competition in Hockenheim.
