Team Description

KA-RaceIng is building two cars for the 2026 season with a team of about 90 members. We design, manufacture, and test the KIT26e and KIT26h. The KIT26h will be our second hydrogen-powered car and our 14th combustion-engine vehicle. Both combine the best ideas and proven concepts based on the team’s experience gathered over the past years. The KIT26e is also capable of driving autonomously.

Info
“One team–three cars!” KA-RaceIng is designing, manufacturing and competing with an FSC, FSE and FSD car. After two years full of problems, we finally started to focus on reliability. Keeping this goal in mind, we changed some minor details, like a new camshaft, a new and unique upright concept and a new monocoque. With these small changes, we were able to increase power by nearly 25% and increase our downforce by over 15%. You see, we did everything possible to build a reliable car.

Info
“One team–three cars!” KA-RaceIng is designing, manufacturing and competing with an FSC, FSE and FSD car. The change to a single cylinder engine made the KIT17c lack reliability, so in 2018 the team from KIT decided to only focus on some minor changes and eliminate the problems. The result is an entirely new turbocharged engine concept, a completely new aerodynamic package and huge revolutions in the suspension, built around the chassis of 2017… At least they didn't change their beer.

KA-RaceIng - two cars, one passion! Being a team of about 70 students, KA-RaceIng builds two cars every year: one with a combustion engine and one with an electric drivetrain. The KIT13c is our 7th combustion car, the KIT13e is our 4th electric car and both combine the best of new ideas and tested concepts of the last years. The KIT13c combines the best of new ideas and tested concepts. As we are building two cars, we develop several parts which meet the requirements of both cars and improve testing time and manufacturing effort. Since March 2011 we have been developing a 2-cylinder, turbocharged, direct injected combustion engine at Mercedes-AMG GmbH especially for the use in formula student vehicles. The KIT13c is developed and manufactured to run with this engine. We would like to thank all supporters and are looking forward to an exciting event in Hockenheim.

Being a team of about 60 students, KA-RaceIng builds two cars every year: one with an electric drivetrain and one with a combustion engine. Starting in autumn with conception and design, we set a tight production schedule to present our new cars in April. The KIT12 is our 6th combustion car and combines the best of new ideas and tested concepts. As we are building two cars, we develop several parts which meet the requirements of both cars and improve testing time and manufacturing effort. Since March 2011 we are developing a 2-cylinder, turbocharged, direct injected combustion engine at Mercedes-AMG GmbH especially for use in formula student vehicles. The KIT12 is developed and manufactured to run with this engine. Due to delays during development and testing we could not use the engine for startup of the vehicle and thus placed our last years' modified motorcycle engine in the KIT12. We would like to thank all supporters and are looking forward to an exciting event in Hockenheim.

Being a team of about 50 students, KA-RaceIng builds two cars every year: one for the formula student and one for the formula student electric. Starting in autumn with conception and design, we set a tight production schedule to present our new cars in April. Since then we have tested a lot to get ready to race and train our drivers. The KIT11 is our 5th combustion car and combines the best of new ideas and approved concepts. One of the highlights is the hybrid chassis with a CRFP monocoque front end and a tubular space frame rear end. To facilitate the handling with the KIT11, we also improved our ergonomics. Again we used the Honda CBR600 engine, this time with a self-built dual fuel system. The modular electronic system has been completed with a live telemetry system to observe all dates while driving. Our aim is to score as much points as possible and achieve a top ranking overall. We would like to thank all supporters and are looking forward to an exciting event at Hockenheim.

The Team consists of 53 students from different fields of study, mainly mechanical, electrical and industrial engineering. Organised into mechanical or organisational sub teams, every team member has a task for which he is fully responsible. The KIT10 is the forth car of KA-RaceIng. The highlight of the KIT10 is the direct injection fuel system which we developed in the last two years. It is the first direct injection system in a Formula Student race car. With this system, we can reduce the fuel consumption and increase the torque in the middle rpm range.KA-RaceIng would like to thank all its supporters which made it possible to build this race car. The Team is looking forward to another exciting and successful competition in Hockenheim.

KA-RaceIng – the formula student team from the University of Karlsruhe (TH) – took part in their first formula student event in 2007. The team consists of 55 students from different fields of study, mainly mechanical, electrical and industrial engineering. Organised into technical or organisational sub teams, every team member has a task for which he is fully responsible. The main design change on the KIT09 is a modular CFRP-monocoque instead of a tubular steel frame chassis. Further innovations were introduced on individual components to reduce weight, improve serviceability and allow efficient and repeatable setup adjustments. By the start of May the KIT09 was ready to race and the team's focus turned to testing and training, in order to optimise the car’s and driver’s performance. KA-RaceIng would like to thank all its supporters which made it possible to build this race car. The team is looking forward to another exciting and successful competition at Hockenheim.

KA-RaceIng e.V., the Formula Student team of the KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) has been founded in late 2006. It currently consists of 58 engineering and business students working towards a common goal: to establish KA-RaceIng among the top teams of the field. After a very successful first season, resulting in the best newcomer award in Hockenheim, we are proud to present our newest entry to the competition: the KIT08. The completely new design car is an improvement to the KIT07 in almost every aspect. All main goals during development, especially significant reduction of weight, higher serviceability and increased driver ergonomics have been achieved. This was, besides constant striving for the best technical solution, only possible by maintaining a high level of communication and teamwork throughout the development process. We would like to thank our supporters in the industry and at the university - their engagement has been crucial to the success of our project.
