Team Description
Raftar Formula Racing is the Formula Student team of IIT Madras. Founded in 2012 as a combustion team, we have competed in Formula Bharat, India's official Formula Student competition, as well as several prestigious international events, including Formula Student Germany, Formula Student UK, and Formula Student Italy.
The name "Raftar" translates to "speed" or "pace" in Hindi, reflecting the team's commitment to engineering excellence and continuous performance improvement.
Now in our 15th year of Formula Student participation and fourth year as an electric team, we are proud to present RFR26, our latest electric race car. Developed with a strong emphasis on data-driven design, reliability, optimization, and rigorous design validation, RFR26 represents a significant step forward for the team. Following over 400 km of testing and a mass reduction of more than 50 kg compared to RFR25 - made possible in part by the development of India's most energy-dense and power-dense battery pack - RFR26 stands as our lightest, fastest, and most refined electric car to date.
RFR26 also marks a major milestone in the team's journey, as it becomes the team's first vehicle to feature autonomous capabilities.
