Info
USM15 brings together 15 years of the team's Formula Student experience. With more extensive aerodynamic systems and bigger composites components than ever before, we've continued to build our knowledge and capability every year. This year we're staying NA single, 10inch rims, spaceframe, wings and underbody aero. It's an evolution of the concept that took us to 15th position at FSG2014. Any other teams from the UK want to challenge us this time? 2015 is our special year...is it yours?

Info
This is the 13th year USM have competed at FSUK. The team consists of around 13 core members and 30 overall. Have won the cost event 3 times, once at FSUK last year and twice in Germany. Working to compete at the top level in the dynamic events as well. The team's engines are named after the Transformers Bumblebee and Megatron. Last year saw a full ground up re-design to a single-cylinder engine and 10” wheels (compared to 4-cylinder, 13” wheels)

Info
University of Strathclyde Motorsport’s 13th Formula Student entry is the team’s first ground-up redesign since its formation in 1999. USM13 will be competing at both Silverstone and Hockenheim this year and features a Suzuki LT-R450 single-cylinder engine and Hoosier 10” tyres. This concept was selected with the intention of developing USM’s focus on cost and reliability while improving on-track performance. The team worked closely with University of South Florida Racing throughout the season to ensure a smooth transition to the new engine, sharing time, experience and resources to develop a collaborative engine package. After winning the Cost Analysis event at FSG2012, USM are determined to maintain a strong performance in Static events for 2013 and beyond. The team has worked hard to improve knowledge transfer by restructuring into technical sub-groups, compiling a comprehensive Engineering Report and establishing a dedicated IT suite with support from the Alumni Fund.

Info
University of Strathclyde Motorsport are returning to the Hockenheimring for the fourth time with USM11, the team’s eleventh Formula Student car and the most exciting yet. Building on the success and reliability of its predecessors, USM11 features a number of significant developments. New swept-back rear wishbones have resulted in a lighter chassis, and an engine upgrade from the previous Honda CBR600F4i to the CBR600RR8 has reduced mass, improved packaging and increased performance. Student-designed hubs, uprights, pedals and differential mounts have all provided weight reductions, and the new custom dry sump system lowers the centre of gravity. USM has undergone a significant team restructure this year, with engineering students working alongside their business counterparts to understand how best to market and promote the car and team to sponsors and judges alike. We’d like to say thanks to all our sponsors, and best of luck to all at FSG2011!

Info
University of Strathclyde Motorsport are pleased to present USM X. With a team currently consisting of 40 members and running on a purely extra curricular basis, substantial work has been put in to make USM X a more competitive package than the solid base laid out by USM 09. The team is overseen by senior experienced members that encourage younger students to design smaller components in sub-systems. This ensures that USM has a continuous progression of knowledge within the team to maintain a high standard. Validation of components on USM X has been achieved through dynamic testing. New developments for the team this year include aluminium hubs with steel inserts, resulting in a 50% reduction in mass and a Drexler differential with custom sprocket carrier. Other highlights of USM X include increased compression ratio.USM would once again like to thank all our sponsors for backing the project.

Info
The design of USM07’s successor, USM08, is driven by performance and reliability. A large emphasis was placed on validation of theoretical results, by application and use of strain gauging, chassis torsional testing, flow bench and dynamometer testing, and tire data.USM08’s chassis has a 40% increase in torsional stiffness, 2146 Nm/deg. The suspension incorporates both anti-squat and anti-dive, and use of Ohlin’s Cane-Creek Double Barrel dampers. The uprights are manufactured from CNC aluminium. The engine incorporates a Garrett GT12 turbocharger, producing a 32% increase in torque. The cast iron Torsen T1 diff casing is replaced with a CNC aluminium casing. The wheel design features custom designed cast aluminium centres and carbon fibre rims. The hubs are single piece, with rears integrating tripod housings. USM08 uses a DTA Fast ECU and a dashboard featuring alphanumeric LCD. The team would like to thank all sponsors and wish all Formula Student teams the best of luck!!
