2011 Metropolia Motorsport designed and engineered its 9th Formula Student Car. HPF011 is built around the familiar concept of tubular steel space frame, 13” wheels and a four-cylinder engine and features fully stresses composite floorpan and side impact panels, completely custom made steering system and extensively modified Yamaha R6 engine.Suspension is designed with wide range of adjustments and pushrod actuated dampers are mounted up and horizontal in both ends. Steering wheel is connected to vehicle can bus allowing driver to adjust different parameters of the ECU or data acquisition. Four-speed gearbox is operated electro-pneumatically through steering wheel paddles. The whole beauty is wrapped in epoxy infused aramid fiber bodywork sketched by industrial design students.Metropolia Motorsport would like to than all it's sponsors and supporters for the season of 2011.

HPF010 is the 8th Formula Student Car designed and engineered by Metropolia Motorsport. The new car uses more composite materials in order to increase the torsional stiffness the frame and to make parts even lighter. Power is produced by modified Yamaha R6 engine. The engine has been tested and tuned on the engine dyno to verify the great results got from the simulations. Variable length intake system provides wide powerband and great torque. Dry sump system guarantees lubrication even in hard corners. Increased power and torque are transferred to a Drexler LSD via modified 4-speed pneumatic gearbox. Steeltube space frame is reinforced with a carbonfibre/nomex-honeycomb floor panel, sideplates and carbonfibre rear-end monocoque. Composite materials can also be found in components like the drivers seat, steering wheel and driveshafts. Design of the bodywork was as challenging as always. The bodywork was designed using the philosofy we always have, style and smoothness.

HPF009 is the 7th Formula Student Car designed and engineered by Metropolia Motorsport (formely known as Helsinki Polytechnic). The newest car contains several top of the line components and solutions. Power is produced by modified Yamaha R6 engine. Our engine team has been working hard on simulations and getting to know our new Motec engine management system since last autumn. Variable length intake system provides wide powerband and great torque. Dry sump system guarantees optimum lubrication even in hard corners. Increased power and torque are transferred to a Drexler LSD via modified 4-speed pneumatically operated gearbox. Steel tube Space frame is reinforced with a carbon fibre floor panel. Composite materials can also be found in components like the drivers seat, steering wheel and driveshafts. Design of the bodywork was as challenging as always. The theme of the bodywork is man and motoring so hopefully people sence pure racing spirit by just looking at the car.

HPF008 is the latest achievement of Helsinki Polytechnic’s 11-member Formula Engineering Team. Under the beautiful appearance of the ultra light body panels hides a full blooded racer. Light weight is a priority in every detail of the car, like the carbon fiber a-arms, magnesium steering gear, multifunctional carbon fiber steering wheel. The naturally aspired Yamaha R6 2008 engine is tuned with loosing a few unnecessary gears and making our own variable length intake system. Engine management is executed with Finnish Tatech system which includes self developed traction control and launch control systems. Maximum power output is 93 hp and 68 Nm of torque. The modified 4-speed gearbox is pneumatically actuated and it can be operated either in semi-auto or full-auto mode. Communication between control units is via CAN-bus and information is gathered with two-way telemetry at any time. The car was made in record time and several hundred test kilometers build confidence in reliability.
