Team Description

HTW Motorsport Team

Every season 40 teammembers show their passion for motorsport. To master such a big task as designing, manufacturing and marketing a racecar, we need a very diverse team. Nearly every course of study is represented in our team, including Economic Sciences, Museum Studies Electronic Engineering, IT and of course Automotive and Mechanical Engineering. The gained knowledge from professional expertise, studies and internships is a key factor to design a race car as well as for the controlling, marketing, project management and organizational tasks. The interdisciplinary nature of the project fosters the team to extend the knowledge not only in their own department but also in other departments of the project. We are not only a highly motivated and dynamic team with a communicative atmosphere, but we also have the courage to
implement progressive and innovative ideas. The interdisciplinary cooperation allows us to design and build a new race car every season which creates an extremely dynamic environment that enables us to display our motivation.

Info
Seven students of the UAS Berlin had the dream of a FSAE Car in 2005, this year we built the 10th Berlin Race Car, the BRC16. Our new team with many commited members worked on a lightweight concept - the result was our Beluga. Despite its looks we reduced the weight of our second hybrid-monocoque with aerodynamic package. Our Beluga is driven by a naturally aspirated single cylinder engine. Last year a beer barrel was part of the concept. Check out what we got this year! #300thisisBerlin

HTW Motorsport – the Formula Student Team of the UAS Berlin – looks back at an exciting year 2012. They already won their second award: the FSG Media Award 2012! Moreover the team participated in two Formula Student competitions for the first time in their history! In addition to the FSG in Hockenheim the team embarked on the journey to Györ to the Formula Student Hungary (FSH). In 2013 HTW Motorsport takes even one more: they compete in three competitions! Their event phase starts with the FSG in Hockenheim, only four days later the team from Berlin sends their race car on the track in Hradec Krávolé at the Formula Student Czech Republic. The FSH is the crowing glory at the end of the season 2013. HTW Motorsport will give everything to expand their collection of Formula Student Awards and to achieve new best performances. A special thank you goes out to all our cooperation partners and sponsors whose generous support enables us to continue operating this great project!

And the winner of the Sportsmanship Award of the Formula Student Germany 2011 is...UAS Berlin! Founded in 2005, HTW Motorsport is entering its 6th successful year of competition in Formula Student Germany and its 1st in Hungary. The team can rely on more than 40 students from a variety of majors so the project lives on a diversity of skills and ideas. Together it was possible to design and build the new BRC12 [Berlin Race Car 12] in keeping with our motto ‘keep it simple!’. It’s equipped with highly optimized lightweight construction, improved energy management and ergonomically modified seat, pedals and steering wheel position. In addition to that we assembled our race car with an aggressive but also elegant appearance. With the BRC12 and the incomparable team spirit HTW Motorsport is looking forward to a favorable season! Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to all our sponsors and supporters who make our project become reality!

Info
HTW Motorsport is entering the Formula Student Germany event for the fifth time. In 2007 the team reached a very satisfying 19th place. In this season the BRC11 (Berlin Race Car) made a tremendous evolution compared to it's older brother. The main aspect is the weight reduction of the brake system which is about 200 percent, using mountainbike brake calipers. The heart of the car is a highly modified Yamaha YZF-R6 4 cylinder engine. Also every part of the car was optimized concerning functionality and weight. The BRC11 will be a highly competitive race car specially designed for the Formula Student disciplines. The team is made up of members with different academic backgrounds. There are automotive-, mechanical and industrial engineers as well as computer scientists and business students."Make it simple!", is our mission statement.

FHTW Motorsport TeamThe Formula Student racing team of the Berlin University of Applied Sciences was founded four years ago in June 2005. In this time all team members pursued one ultimate ambition: the participation in the Formula Student championship at Hockenheimring in August 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Starting from scratch, all departments like engine/electronics, chassis/brakes, frame/covering and of course the marketing and PR department which amongst others is responsible for sponsoring, aimed high. The result of this year of full commitment is a vehicle, which is highly competitive: The “Berlin Race Car” (BRC09). The Team is made up of members with different academic backgrounds. There are automotive, mechanical and industrial engineers as well as computer scientists and business communication students. According to the namechangeprocess of our university, we are renaming our self into HTW-Motorsport in September 2009.

In this season the BRC08 (Berlin Race Car) made a tremendous evolution compared to is older brother. The main aspect is the weight reduction of about 70 kg using carbon fibre composites and high-strength aluminium on nearly every assembly. The heart of the car is a highly modified Yamaha 4 cylinder engine. For maximum torque over the whole rpm-range the airbox is equipped with a innovative mechanism allowing to change the length of the suction pipes within 0.3 sec. Also every part of the car was optimized concerning functionality and weight. The BRC08 will be a highly competitive and lightweight race car specially designed for the Formula Student disciplines. The Team is made up of members with different academic backgrounds.
