Team Description

The team of joanneum racing graz took part in the static competitions 2003 for the first time and since 2004 a new car has been built every year. Since the team members had worked very hard for their success, a synonym for them and their ambitions was soon found - The “Weasels” were born. Each year there is a new team with new innovative ideas coming up.
The team has been successful right from the beginning: At their first participation in 2003 they won the Marketing event, in 2004 they were awarded the „FISITA Award of Best Endeavour“ for the best team spirit. In the 2006 competition in Italy the joanneum racing team achieved the “Overall Winner” as the first UAS ever. These results show that the team of joanneum racing graz has permanently improved within just 4 years and that it is one of the main favourites at international competitions.
Because of the outstanding results at the previous events there can only be one aim for the next competitions: to finish under the top 3 teams.

Info
Joanneum racing graz is a highly motivated team from the UAS "FH Joanneum", Graz. The team is well known as "The Weasels" and has been competing in Formula Student since 2004. A new car has been built every year since then. The team members change every year, which brings a lot of new ideas into the team. The basic team consists of approximately 40 Automotive Engineering students supported by students from other study courses from the UAS Graz. The car for 2013, called the jr13 is now the second car, which is powered by a self-developed turbocharged 2-cylinder engine with direct injection. The chassis of the car is a lightweight one-piece CFRP-monocoque. Last year's car showed that the combination of a lightweight chassis and efficient but also powerful turbocharged engine is competitive. The team 2013 enhanced engine technology and is keen on proving the competitiveness of their car!

Info
joanneum racing graz team took part in the static competitions in 2003 for the first time and has built a new car every year since 2004 .The basic team consists of 30 Vehicle Technology students from the University of Applied Sciences, Graz. In the 2006 competition in Italy the joanneum racing team achieved the “Overall Winner”, the first U. A. S. to ever achieve this. At the event in Germany in 2007, the team’s hard work was rewarded with the 3rd place Overall. These results show that our team is one of the main favourites at the competition this year - especially in the Skid Pad event which was won in England in 2006 & 2007, Italy 2006 and Detroit 2007. The jr08 is lighter and more ergonomic to drive than its predecessor. The supercharged 450cc one-cylinder engine supplies a power of 84 HP and a max. torque of 72 Nm to the crankshaft. Important highlights of the jr08 are the one-piece CFRP rims, the integrated drive shafts and the pneumatically actuated clutch and gearbox.
