Team Description

SquadraCorse is a team founded in winter 2004 by 10 Turin Polytechnic University students who were keen on engineering and motorsport and who decided to pool their knowledge to begin working on this project. Our objective is to produce, each year, a single-seat competition car in order to take part in the Formula SAE competition. Currently, our team is made up of students from 10 different engineering courses and from 12 different nationalities. Since our birth in 2005, we have steadily but dramatically gained experience, achieving great success both in Europe and overseas, until, in 2012, we have switched from an internal combustion engine to a full electric powertrain, the first team to do so in Italy.

Squadra Corse PoliTO was founded in 2004, being one of the oldest Italian Formula Student Team. In 2012 switched to fully electric powertrain, making this the 10th year in the EV class. Compared to previous cars, SC22 features a way better performing aerodynamic package and a significantly more advanced control system. This year we focused a lot on reliability and driver feeling, to get the most out of our testing phase. It is also the first time at FSG in 9 years, so we are thrilled to be here!

SquadraCorse of Politecnico di Torino was founded in 2004 and untill 2011 has manufactured internal combustion engines prototypes. After a short but successful experience in 2010 with a hybrid vehicle, finally in 2012 the team switched from the internal combustion engine to the full electric propulsion. When last year the SC12e came to life it was the first electric prototype ever produced by an Italian Formula SAE team and after the successful season the team carried on the electric project with the SCR. The 2013 team is interdisciplinary and international as always but the organization after the passage to an electric vehicle, has been revised giving more importance to the electrical and electronic division. Several improvements have been adopted for the new vehicle to increase the perfomance and the efficiency; the most important one is the transition from a steel tubular chassis to a carbon fiber monocoque. The SCR has two independent motors with a new double stage transmission.
