Team Description

Since 30 students met the first time in November 2008 to discuss the idea of founding a Formula Student team at the University of Applied Sciences Gießen-Friedberg, the team has continuously developed. In the following period many meetings were held to discuss various topics, concerning the organization and aims of the team. Finally 11 members of the team met on August 20th 2009 to found the association “Giessen Motorsport e.V.” in order to be an independent motorsport team.

Race hard but fair!

Info
We proudly present to you the F21-19. 15 team-members, as well as several highly supportive sponsors, were involved in the production of our race-car "Gina". For the first time in the history of THM Motorsport, we were capable of building an aerodynamic package. Additive manufactured parts of our suspension system in conjunction with weigth optimization of our engines´ elements are only the most noteworthy optimizations wich make "Gina" a fast, and hopefully successful, race-car.

Info
This year 28 team members designed our 5th race car. In contrast to the last season we built a completely new vehicle. For example, we refined our steel tube frame and reduced our car's weight by developing a carbon-fiber suspension. For the first time we have an adjustable pedal box and we are driving without an alternator to save weight and space. We are proud of having solved all the problems that came up during the construction not least because of the team spirit and our ambition.
Engineering Design Priorities:

Info
THM Motorsport was founded in 2009. At the moment our 25 team members are constructing the 4th vehicle. The basic concept for the season 2013 is to focus mainly on testing the current car from 2012, in order to do proper driver training, troubleshooting, work on the reliability and try to understand the cars basic characteristics and to do basic setup work. The previous cars including the 2012 model haven’t done a lot of mileage so far and testing before the events was always limited to several days which in fact had to be used for troubleshooting and not for setup work. Furthermore we have been focusing on fixing the main problems of our 2012 vehicle, namely engine cooling and lubrication system and improving our power to weight ratio by developing a carbon-fiber suspension.
