Team Description

This is the 30th year of MRacing. We build a carbon monocoque, four and a half cylinder racecar that emphasizes light weight, high solar power, and reliability. We try hard to get top 10 each year so we don't have to take the registration quiz.

So imagine this: airplane wing, upside down. Unfortunately world superstar driver Ron Sulligan retired. Between him leaving and our lack of suspension knowledge it was decided they they would just hide everything with big wings. Then they decided to spend a huge chunk of our money on a vacation in Germany, there just happened to be a competition at the same time so they figured they'd spend a few days there.

Info
MRacing's 26th car, Princess, represents the team's 4th consecutive entry into Formula Student Germany. Each member's crazy passion for her has led to a car worthy of the block M. This 4-cylinder space frame car has already finished 5th at Formula SAE Michigan and represents the continued success of the team out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. A focus on reliability and extensive testing has made MRacing a formidable team, finishing in the top 10 in its last 7 competitions. The team would like to thank its great network of sponsors and contributors who have made the team's goals a reality.

Info
MRacing was founded in 1986, and has competed in every Formula SAE MIS/East event since 1988. The team has traveled abroad on three previous occasions, visiting Formula SAE Japan in 2006, Formula Student UK in 2007, and Formula Student Germany in 2009. The MR10 competed in the Formula SAE MIS 2010 competition, placing 2nd overall, 1st in Acceleration, 2nd in endurance, 1st for the FEV Powertrain Development Award, and 1st for the Joe Gibbs Spirit of Innovation Award. The MR10 follows in a long line of Michigan cars featuring the rare combination of 10in wheels and a four cylinder engine, allowing a very high power-to-weight ratio. The vehicle design places a premium on reliability and serviceability, while still maintaining a light weight. The team's design schedule allows for a large amount of testing time to ensure the vehicle is reliable and has a proper set up. The team is traveling to Germany early to test the vehicle at Ramstein Air Force Base.

Info
The 09 MRacing Wolverine is a 186kg spaceframe car with 10” wheels powered by a 600cc naturally aspirated engine using E85 fuel. With this platform, the team hopes to meet its goal of scoring 800 points or more at FSG 2009. The main design objectives for the vehicle were high levels of vehicle dynamics performance and powertrain calibration supported by reliable subsystems. On the powertrain side, the car features a BOSCH Motorsport electronics system with wireless data acquisition, a laser-sintered intake manifold with adjustable runner geometry, a Salisbury differential with in-house casing and ramps, and a dry-sump oiling system. Chassis highlights include custom Penske dampers, CV joints internal to the spindle, in-house radially mounted calipers, fully adjustable inboard and outboard kinematics, and a Watt’s-link anti-roll device. The team is very excited for the competition after placing 7th at the 2009 FSAE Michigan competition, and wishes the best of luck to all teams.
