FaSTTUBe is present in the Formula Student community since 2005. We design electric vehicles since 2018 with our newest model - the FT24 - being the third integrated EV/DV racecar. We identified the reliability of the predecessor as its main performance lever, making an easy-to-manufacture and easy-to-maintain steeltube spaceframe with a dual Emrax 188 chain drive the base of our concept. That means you will see the iconic FaSTTUBe steelframe with transparent bodywork back again on track!

The FT23 is the second electric race car in FaSTTUBe’s history with a fully developed aerodynamic package. The new slim packaging concept of the vehicle rear gives us maximum potential for our aerodynamic goals. Therefore, the newly designed accumulator and drivetrain are arranged in a parallel configuration, which increase the maintenance and mounting accessibility. From the start, the vehicle was developed with an autonomous system integrated into the overall concept of the FT23.

Highlights of the DV system One highlight of this year's driverless system is our improved pathing algorithm, with which we can detect cones and build a path without the need to know the cones' colors. This year we also started to use DeepStream to process the camera output, which made our pipeline easily configurable and also results in lower CPU usage.

For the FT22 we started with a clean sheet of paper and came up with a new drivetrain and battery concept. Two Emrax 188 synchronous motors propel the car and are connected via a chain drive to the rear axle. Having won the Tesla design challenge for a cylindrical cell accumulator concept our battery has been completely redesigned from last year's car. Additionally we further developed our driverless components from last year's car and fully integrated them into the design of the FT22.

The FT19e will be the second electric vehicle built by FaSTTUBe to date. After the solid baseline of the FT18e it is the aim of this season to improve the system in order to achieve more reliability. Following our philosophy of FaSTTUBe to fully understand and validate a concept of a car and adhere to our three years plan from 2017, we want to overcome early iteration obstacles and laying an improved foundation for coming seasons as an even stronger competitor.

The FT18e will be the first electric vehicle ever built by FaSTTUBe. Therefore, we focused on applying 11 years of IC vehicle experience to the construction of the e-powertrain, chassis and suspension. We do not expect our first electric vehicle to be a first-class car, but we want to lay the foundations for a successful electric future as a solid newcomer. Because the completion of the endurance event heavily influences the relative success of the car, the design is driven by reliability.

Since 2006 the year of foundation of FSG, the students of the TU Berlin have been participating in this contest. With ambition they face a new challenge this year - the newly established FSE.zedX - zero emission drive 2010 - the name of the FSE team of the TU Berlin, which was founded in autumn 2009 by a group of former Formula Student participants. The base of the racing car builds the chassis of the car of 2008, which is modified to be equipped with a state-of-the-art e-drive. Therefore the team has designed an efficient and reliable e-drive with a high level of integration, like a differential directly integrated into the torque motor. Yet, the goal of zedX is not only to build a competitive electric racing car, but to make motorsport sustainable, to make sure that passion for racing does not compromise the environmental needs. To reach that, different attempts were taken for the design of the car and in other parts of the project, like a bodywork and seat made of jute-fiber.
