On the last day of the engineering competition at the Hockenheimring, the teams were able to show the capabilities of their car by participating in the 22 km endurance test. The self-built vehicles had to outstand 34 laps. For every team, two drivers drove 17 laps, each 645 meters long. Overall 33 cars were competing in the endurance, 18 finished this discipline successfully. Fastest was the racing team from University of Queensland, second the TU Graz from Austria and the third price went to the University of Stuttgart.

Despite the predictions, the team of Moscow University MADI was able to drive two laps at the end of the competition. Arriving with a car unfit to drive, built with parts out of a motorcycle, that will have to be reconstructed and sold after the race, the Russians were supported outstandingly by manpower from other teams.

The first Formula Student Germany has been closed by the award ceremony and the finishing MAHLE party. We congratulate the Technical University Graz winning the prize for overall winner. The award for the best newcomer went to FH Kiel. The Oxford Brookes University team was awarded the best sportsmanship. The University of Queensland from Australia is overall winner of the dynamic events and was honoured by Steve Daum, representative of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). MAHLE sponsored the finishing party for all students and members of staff with a great band, Bavarian food and free beer.
