Have you ever wondered what kind of professional race cars students can design and build in one year? Do you want to experience formula-style cars on a race track? Then pay a visit to Formula Student Germany at the Hockenheimring this summer!

This August, the ninth edition of Formula Student Germany will be held. A total of 115 teams from more than 26 different countries will be competing against each other in two simultanious competitions. 75 teams will be participating in Formula Student Combustion (FSC). Additionally 40 teams will be participating in Formula Student Electric (FSE). Each team, both FSC and FSE have spent one year designing, building and testing their cars – and in Hockenheim they will present their results to the judges and show off their technical solutions on the race track. Visit Formula Student Germany and experience the unique atmosphere of innovation, commitment, fun and race ambiance of over 3000 motivated and talented students from all over the world.

What is there to see…

… in the pit lane? Assembling, grinding, oiling, adjusting, cleaning, polishing – watch the students hard at work. From finishing touches to small repairs right up to simply getting the car ready to race, you can learn much about teams and their cars by taking a look in the pit lane – experience first hand their dedication to present the results of one year’s hard work to judges as well as spectators.

.… on the race track? The long weekend of the 1st till the 3rd of August the race cars will compete in four dynamic disciplines, Acceleration, Skidpad, Autocross and Endurance, each posing their own challenges on a car’s design. Take a seat on one of the grandstands and share the excitement.
Friday afternoon cornering ability is tested on the SkidPad. Saturday morning tyre grip and engine performance are tested during the Acceleration event. Later that day the Autocross, a 1-kilometre lap with straights, corners and chicanes, will be held.

Sunday is reserved entirely for the Formula Student Endurance of both classes, a gruelling 22km test of stamina for both driver and vehicle. During the endurance race up to six cars are allowed on track simultaneously.

On Thursday the cars can already be seen in action on the test circuit where they are allowed to fire up their engines after they have passed the technical and safety inspections.

… additionally? Throughout the visitors area all aspects of Formula Student Germany are explained on various banners and posters to offer an insight to those parts of the event that cannot be directly accessed.
Thursday and Friday you can watch the technical and safety inspections, which every car needs to pass before being allowed on the test track . The inspection comprises of a brake test, a noise test and a tilt test. Next to the entrance of the paddock and facing the pit lane there are special bays in which teams can start and test their engines.

Please do not forget to visit our showroom in the FSG Forum where our sponsors will be presenting their latest innovations, technologies and race cars.
