In order to shorten the time before the first Formula Student Germany event takes place, the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI) has already put together a Pre-Event. Eight teams took advantage of the opportunity to get a breath of racing air, competing on two German tracks with their self built cars.

Highlights: Lap around the entire FIA-certified track, visit to Museums
Only the dynamic disciplines were held at the Pre-Event. Students, businesses and journalists were able to get a first impression of the major event being held in Hockenheim in 2006. The grand finale of the Pre-Event at Porsche Leipzig GmbH consisted of an Endurance event and a drive around Porsche's own FIA certified test track behind a safety car.
